Plant Modernization With Quick ROI
With today’s economy showing signs of rebounding and predicted to continue to improve, and with raw material costs now increasing in price, companies that are operating older plant facilities that have been added onto over the past 30-40+ years need to review their operations and find ways to better compete with the new Global competition. One quick way is to review how they are currently receiving and handling their raw materials.
Many of these plastic processing plants have machinery placed inside their facilities in various orientations as a result of the equipment being purchased and installed as the companies grew. These companies are now faced with continuing to receive their raw materials as they have in the past – quite often by gaylord delivery from the resin supplier – because direct feeding of their equipment from a source such as silos is not practicable or affordable. These companies therefore are shackled with accepting the additional charges for non-sustainable cardboard & wood containers (.04 ¢ or more per lb) which is lost revenue which could be retained with a minimal investment.
For these companies, the DW Global Group has a solution:
Companies that find themselves in the above situation can make the switch from gaylord delivery to tanker truck delivery by installing a small outside silo and a couple of day bins inside their plant. Material (powder or pellets) from the day bins can then be discharged directly into the HDPE dry bulk hoppers supplied by DW Global. Hoppers can be filled when stacked 2 high with the top hopper feeding the lower hopper through a slide gate. When the bottom hopper is filled the slide gate is closed and the upper hopper is then filled. Based upon the bulk density of the material at least 1,600 lbs of material can be discharged per stack. The hoppers can then either be stacked up to 3 high for storage, (as an inside mini-silo) or taken directly to the processing machines for continuous discharge to the feeders located on the machines.
The DW Global Group can assist in determining what is required for these companies to make the move to modernizing their facility – increase their profitability – and become more competitive in the 21st Century. |
